WHAT IS GENERATIVE A.I. AND WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
Generative A.I (GenAI, or GAI) is a subset of artificial intelligence that uses generative models to produce text, images, videos, or other forms of data.Famous examples of generative A.I. tools are LLMs like ChatGPT and Claude, A.I. art generators like Midjourney, Kling and Runway, and coding tools like Cursor and Github Copilot.
Five things you should understand about generative A.I. and the creative industries:
Generative A.I. will wipe out many huge corporations. Education giant Chegg's stock price is down 99% because of ChatGPT. Meanwhile, tiny teams of people who know how to use A.I. will become enormously rich.
A.I. automation will make every creative industry unrecognisable in the next few years. Just like software completely transformed the world economy in the 1990s, A.I. agents will do the same in the 2020s.
Generative A.I. is not "good" or "bad", just like the internet is not "good" or "bad". It's a huge danger for some and a huge opportunity for others - but it's so powerful that it will be impossible to stop.
Generative A.I. moves incredibly fast. If you just played around with ChatGPT and DALL-E a couple of years ago and thought that's it, you are very very far behind. It's coming for movies, music, adverts, podcasts, pretty much any media you can think of.
Keeping up with the latest A.I. developments is a full-time job. If you're expecting your staff to follow A.I. news on top of their 40-hour work week, they will miss the technologies that will make or break whole companies and industries.
If you want a generative A.I. expert on your side in these unpredictable times, feel free to get in touch.
